Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong is relocating to 8 Queen’s Road Central
Our New Home in Hong Kong’s Central District
Transformation of the street-level gallery will be overseen by Selldorf Architects
We are delighted to announce our relocation to a space with street level access in Hong Kong’s Central CBD district. The gallery’s new home in the city will feature exhibition galleries on the ground and first floor at 8 Queen’s Road Central, at the junction of historic Ice House Street, Duddell Street and Queen’s Road Central. The transformation of this prime spot will be overseen by Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects, a trusted collaborator who has created several exceptional spaces for Hauser & Wirth worldwide since 1996.
Elaine Kwok, who joined Hauser & Wirth as Managing Partner for Asia in 2022, noted that the relocation reaffirms the gallery’s commitment in Asia at a time when travel restrictions have eased. ‘We’re taking a ground up approach with our enhanced new space in the heart of Hong Kong, steps away from most of the prominent landmarks in Central,’ says Kwok. ‘Our beautiful gallery, with views and access at street level, will bring exciting opportunities to present exceptional exhibitions by our artists and welcome visitors from the city, wider Asia and beyond. It marks a new chapter for Hauser & Wirth in Asia’s key art hub.’

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Hauser & Wirth’s Hong Kong presence having been active in the region since 2010. The gallery has hosted 17 exhibitions, including solo presentations by Mark Bradford, Philip Guston, Roni Horn, Zeng Fanzhi, Louise Bourgeois, Annie Leibovitz, Nicolas Party, and Rashid Johnson, among others. This exhibition program has been accompanied by over 80 talks, events and performances, learning activities and school visits. In the same period, many artists from Hauser & Wirth’s roster—including Phyllida Barlow, Mark Bradford, Louise Bourgeois, George Condo, Roni Horn, Gary Simmons, Pipilotti Rist, and Mika Rottenberg, and Zhang Enli—have exhibited in the region’s museums, institutions and Biennales. The gallery has participated in around 30 fairs in Asia region including those in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea.
