Postmasters Gallery Announces New Rome Office and New Director
Big changes are afoot at the gallery.
Tribeca’s Postmasters Gallery is branching out. The gallery announced that their New York director, Paulina Bebecka, would be heading up a new outpost in Rome, and named Kerry Doran the director of the New York gallery.
The announcement by Postmasters founders Magda Sawon and Tamas Banovich, accompanied by a clip of the David Bowie song Changes, details how Bebecka—who Tweeted the news—will be moving to Rome, becoming the gallery’s director-at-large.
There, she’ll be running a European office handling art fairs, pop-up exhibitions, special projects, and curatorial development.
The message also celebrates Doran’s appointment as director. Doran worked previously as an associate scholar at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She was director of New York gallery Bitforms, and was an inaugural member of staff at the New Museum’s tech incubator NEW INC.
Postmasters, which held its first new media-oriented show “Can You Digit?” in 1996, was established in New York’s East Village in 1984. In 2013, after a long spell in Chelsea, the gallery moved to its current 6,000-square-foot space in Tribeca.
Currently on view at their New York space are two shows: Kenneth Tin-Kin Hung’s, “In G.O.D. We Trust” and “CON-Figuration”, a group show featuring Canyon Castator, Shamus Clisset, Christian Rex Van Minnen, Erin Riley, and Agathe Snow.
