Collector and publishing magnate Peter Brant has reportedly hurt himself after taking a tumble from his polo pony.

Competing in the finals of the US Polo Association East Coast Open in Greenwich, Connecticut, three weeks ago, the 69-year-old is said to have overexerted himself and fallen off his horse.

According to Page Six, initial reports suggesting that the experienced rider and passionate polo supporter “crushed his pelvis,” were somewhat exaggerated. It turns out Brant merely tore a tendon in his quadriceps, luckily escaping more serious injury.

However the subsequent surgery forced Brant to miss the wedding of his close friend Alberto “Tico” Mugrabi in the South of France, after doctors advised him against trans-Atlantic travel during his recuperation.

Meanwhile, Christie’s deputy chairman of post-war and contemporary art Loic Gouzer reported from his hospital bed that he was recovering well from surgery, and thanked doctors for his “new knee” in an Instagram post.

The Frenchman evidently tore his ACL in a soccer match at New York’s Chelsea Piers last Tuesday. Gouzer posted a video to his Instagram account showing him holding a substantial ice pack to his right knee whilst being rolled away in a wheelchair by a teammate. Despite the serious injury—which routinely sidelines professional athletes for months—Gouzer looked cheerful, joking that the wheelchair was his “new Ferrari.”

Unlike Brant, Gouzer didn’t let the inconvenience of a torn knee ligament get in the way of a good party. The Christie’s man made the trip across the Atlantic to celebrate his pal Mugrabi’s wedding on the French riviera, waiting to go under the knife until after his return to New York—of course, it helps that the 35-year-old is literally half Brant’s age.

Regardless, even without Brant, Mugrabi and his new wife, fashion blogger Colby Jordan, hardly had a shortage of friends and family on hand to celebrate their nuptials. The lavish affair reportedly drew 600 well-heeled guests.
